How To Make Honey & Thyme Roasted Carrots

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Place ham on tinfoil and wrap the ham tightly covering all surfaces. Place the ham on a roasting pan, cut side down, and bake for 1 hour.

While the ham is baking, prepare the brown sugar glaze. In a small saucepan add brown sugar, honey, dijon mustard, spices, orange juice, pineapple juice and orange zest. Whisk over medium heat until a light simmer appears, then remove from the heat.

After 1 hour of the ham baking, remove from the oven and CAREFULLY remove the tin foil from the ham. Place the ham cut side down in the roasting pan. Increase the oven temperature to 400 degrees F.

Using a basting brush, brush the brown sugar glaze on all sides of the ham. Add about 1/2 of the brown sugar glaze at this time (add the rest later). Place the glazed ham in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes.

Next, add the rest of the brown sugar glaze and repeat glazing the ham again with a basting brush. Place back in the oven for an additional 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, if you feel like you need to caramelize the ham more, bake for an additional 15 minutes and baste again. Do not exceed the internal temperature of 140 degrees F to have a moist ham.

Once the brown sugar is glazed onto the ham, it is ready to serve. Slice the ham into slices and serve with your favourite sides. Enjoy! 🙂

Notes + Tips for Brown Sugar Glaze Ham

  • Don’t over cook this ham! Allow the internal temperature to reach a maximum of 140 degrees F. This will leave the ham to be juicy and not become dry.
  • Once the tin foil is removed from the ham add brown sugar glaze on top. Baking with the brown sugar glaze should be a total of 30-40 minutes, while basting every 10 minutes or so to keep the ham juicy.
  • Use a slow cooker to make this Brown Sugar Glazed Ham instead of baking in the oven. You can create the brown sugar glaze and add that and the ham in a slow cooker and cook on low for a maximum of 4 hours.
