Skip the Starbucks line and try this peppermint mocha at home. Its super easy and comes together with simple ingredients.

Ingredients:

Peppermint Syrup

  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Tbs Peppermint Extract

Peppermint Mocha

  • 2 Shots Brewed Espresso (or strong coffee of your choice)
  • 1 Cup Oat Milk, Frothed
  • 1-2 Tbs Chocolate Syrup*
  • 1-2 Peppermint Syrup, to taste
  • Whip Cream, to garnish
  • Dark Chocolate Shreds, to garnish
  • Crushed Candy Cane Pieces, to garnish

Instructions:

Peppermint Syrup

  • Start by making the peppermint syrup. If you have store-bought peppermint syrup you can skip this step. In a small saucepan add sugar, water and peppermint extract. Bring to a boil and leave to simmer for 10 minutes while whisking often. After 10 minutes turn the heat off and set aside. Once the syrup reaches room temperature pour into a mason jar.
    1 Cup Granulated Sugar, 1 Cup Water, 1 Tbs Peppermint Extract

Peppermint Mocha

  • In a frothing mug, add 1 cup of *warm* oat milk. Use handheld frothing machine to froth milk until its foamy

  • In your desired mug, start by adding your 2 shots of espresso or brewed coffee. Add 1-2 Tbs of chocolate syrup. Then add 1-2 Tbs of peppermint syrup (use less or more depending if you like it very strong or not). Stir the syrups into the coffee. Add the frothed oat milk on top and stir the milk into the drink.
    2 Shots Brewed Espresso (or strong coffee of your choice), 1-2 Tbs Chocolate Syrup*, 1-2 Peppermint Syrup,
  • To garnish add whip cream, dark chocolate shred, crushed candy cane pieces and more dark chocolate syrup if you prefer.

Notes

*I used Torani's dark chocolate syrup.
