How To Make Shamrock Shake Dessert Squares

Start by preparing the pre-made brownie mix according the package instructions. I used the Betty Crocker’s Chocolate Chunk Brownie pack and it called for 1/3 Cup water, oil and 1 egg.

Bake the brownies according to package instructions in a 8″x11″ pyrex baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Once the brownies are cooked, set them aside to cool completely (1 hour).

Next, make the instant vanilla pudding mix according to package instructions. Allow the pudding to cool completely before the next step (1 hour).

After 1 hour, at this point your brownies and vanilla pudding should be completely cooled. In a mixing bowl add the vanilla pudding, mint extract, green food dye and cool whip. Use a spatula to gently mix the filling until a cohesive mixture forms. Add more green food dye until you get a desired green colour.

Pour the green mint layer over top of the brownies in the pyrex pan. Place plastic wrap over top of the dish and place in the fridge for cool for at least 1 hour.

After 1 hour, the Shamrock Shake Dessert Squares are ready to be cut and decorate. I cut mine into 12 equal squares. Top each square with whip cream, 1 Oreo and green sprinkles. Make sure to keep these Shamrock Shake Dessert Squares in the fridge when not actively eating so they stay intact. Enjoy! 🙂

Notes + Tips for Shamrock Shake Dessert Squares

  • Allow the brownies and pudding to cool for 1 hour after preparing. Start by making the brownies and while they cook, you can start on the pudding. Both need to be cooled to room temperature before you continue to the next steps.
  • Use Oreos or any other chocolate cookies you like. You could use chocolate mint cookies since that goes well with the flavour of this dessert.
  • Make sure to chill these Shamrock Shake Dessert Squares for at least an hour so that way the mint layer sets up properly.
