Are you bored with your typical breakfast foods? Oatmeal, eggs, cereal… blahhhh. Thats how I felt and I was so happy when I came across this viral tik tok recipe for custard toast. Using simple ingredients it comes together in 20 minutes and is super customizable! It literally taste like crême brulé but in toast form, how fantastic is that?!
The Ingredients You Will Need…
Custard Toast
2 Slices Bread (of your choice)*
1/2 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
1 Egg
1/4 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tbs Maple Syrup
Maple Drizzle (optional)
2 Tbs Maple Syrup
1 Tsp Cinnamon
Pinch of Salt
Custard Toppings
This custard toast is super customizable! For this recipe I added some sliced strawberries and raspberries. Some other yummy toppings I have seen around tik tok:
Blueberries
Cherries
Chocolate Chips
White Chocolate Chips
The list coudl go on and on! Jut add whatever sounds good to you or what you have on hand!
The Maple Drizzle
I created this maple drizzle that goes over top of the custard toast. This is completely optional though! If you are not a fan or dont want to add it thats fine; the reason I thought to add it was because the custard toast itself doesn’t contain a lot of sugar so the drizzle gives it an extra kick of sweetness. Also the cinnamon compliments the creamy custard flavour profile.
Method
Step 1:
Mix all custard ingredients in a small bowl, whisk until no lumps appear.
Step 2:
Indent the bread, pour the custard mixture overtop and top with your favourite toppings. Bake until the custard is set.
Step 3:
Make the maple drizzle to top the custard toast with once its done baking.
In a bowl whisk together greek yogurt, egg, cinnamon and maple syrup until there are no lumps.
1/2 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt, 1 Egg, 1/4 Tsp Cinnamon, 1 Tbs Maple Syrup
Indent your bread with the back of a spoon creating a "bowl" in the bread around the crust. Pour the custard mixture on the bread slices.
2 Slices Bread (of your choice)*
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until, you see the custard has set in the middle of the toast.
Maple Drizzle
In a small bowl mix maple syrup, cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Use this as an optional dip that you can drizzle over the custard toast once it is done cooking.
2 Tbs Maple Syrup, 1 Tsp Cinnamon, Pinch of Salt
Allow to cool slightly and enjoy 🙂
