The Ingredients You Will Need…
- 2 Cups Oat Flour
- 1/2 Cup Chocolate Protein Powder
- 2 Tbs Cocoa Powder
- 1 Tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tbs Vanilla
- 1 Cup Greek Yogurt (Vanilla)
- 2/3 Cup Milk*
- 2 Eggs
- 1/2 Cup Maple Syrup
- 1-2 Tbs Red Food Dye
- 1 Tbs Cooking Spray
- 1/4 Cup Mini Chocolate Chips, to garnish
- 1/4 Cup Raspberries, to garnish
Cream Cheese Drizzle
- 1/2 Cup Greek Yogurt (Plain or Vanilla)
- 1/2 Cup Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
Protein Powder
These donuts are high in protein due to the protein powder (and greek yogurt). I used the Vega chocolate protein powder for this recipe. Feel free to use whatever chocolate protein powder you have or prefer. Make sure to use a good quality protein- since red velvet relies on a rich chocolatey flavour.
I would recommend not skipping this step since it provides the protein and the chocolatey flavour in the donuts.
Donut baking molds
These protein donuts are baked rather than fried to keep them healthier. I used this type of donut baking mold. It is 3×4 donuts and I sprayed mine lightly with some cooking spray. I filled the batter about 1/2-3/4 full.
I really love thee donut baking molds. You can literally just out cake batter in them and make “cakey donuts”.
Method
Step 1:
Whisk the dry ingredients in a bowl and the wet mixture in a separate bowl. Mix the wet and dry ingredients together to form a batter.
Step 2:
Pipe the batter into the baking donut molds. Bake at 350 degrees for about 18-20 minutes.
Step 3:
Make the cream cheese “frosting” and dip each donut into the cream cheese frosting.
Step 4:
Garnish the donuts with mini chocolate chips and raspberries if you prefer. Enjoy! 🙂
