How To Make Oh Canada Burger

In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Divide the meat into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1/2-inch thick. Set aside.

In a small bowl add the mayonnaise, dijon mustard, maple syrup and spices. Mix well and set aside for now.

Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat. Grill the Canadian bacon slices for about 2 minutes on each side, until slightly crispy. Brush each slice with maple syrup while grilling. Once done, transfer the bacon to a plate and set aside.

Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat. Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

Place the onion rounds on the grill while cooking the burger patties until they are charred on both sides.

While the patties are cooking, prepare the brioche buns. Cut them in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster.

To assemble the burgers, spread a thin layer of the Dijon Maple Mayo on both halves of each toasted bun.

Place a cooked patty on the bottom bun. Top it with 2 slice of Canadian bacon, a charred onion round and cheese curds. Place a portion of cooked french fries on top of the cheese curds. Drizzle a spoonful of gravy over the fries. Place the top bun on the burger.

Repeat the process to assemble the remaining burgers.

Serve the “Oh Canada” Burgers while they’re still warm, and enjoy celebrating Canada Day with this delicious and unique burger creation!

Notes + Tips for Oh Canada Burger

  • Cooking Options: If you don’t have a grill or stovetop grill pan, you can cook the burger patties on a regular stovetop skillet or even in the oven. Adjust the cooking time accordingly based on the method you choose.
  • Customization: Feel free to personalize your burgers by adding additional toppings such as lettuce, tomato slices, or pickles. You can also experiment with different types of cheese or try using a different sauce or mayo variation.
  • Homemade Gravy: While the recipe suggests store-bought or homemade gravy, making your own gravy from scratch can add an extra layer of flavor. Use beef stock, flour, and seasonings to create a rich and savory gravy that complements the burger components.
  • Vegetarian Option: For a vegetarian twist, you can substitute the ground beef patty with a veggie burger patty or a portobello mushroom cap. Adjust the cooking time and seasonings accordingly.
