  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking dish or a similar-sized ovenproof dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Toss the apple mixture until the apples are evenly coated.
6 Cups Apples,, ¼ Cup Granulated Sugar, 1 Tablespoon All Purpose Flour or Cornstarch, 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon, ¼ Teaspoon Nutmeg, ¼ Teaspoon Salt, 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • In another mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold, cubed unsalted butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.
1 Cup Old Fashioned (Rolled) Oats, ½ Cup All Purpose Flour, ¼ Cup Brown Sugar,, ¼ Cup Granulated Sugar, ½ Teaspoon Cinnamon, ¼ Teaspoon Salt, ½ Cup Unsalted Butter,
  • Spread the prepared apple filling evenly in the greased baking dish.Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples, covering them completely. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown, and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges.

Caramel Sauce

  • While the apple crumble is baking, prepare the caramel sauce. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the granulated sugar while stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula. Continue to cook until the sugar turns into a deep amber colour. Be careful not to burn it.
    1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • Add the unsalted butter to the melted sugar and stir until the butter is completely melted and well combined. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously. Be cautious as the mixture will bubble up. Continue to stir until the caramel sauce is smooth and well combined. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Set aside to cool slightly.
¼ Cup Butter, ½ Cup Heavy Cream, 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract, Pinch Salt

Apple Crumble

  • Once the apple crumble is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of the homemade caramel sauce over each serving. Enjoy! :)
