How To Make Prosciutto Asparagus Puff Pastry Bundles

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Start by snapping off the ends of the asparagus and place them into a mixing bowl. Add oil, salt and pepper on top of the asparagus and massage that in, set aside for now.

Next, grate the gruyere cheese and set that aside for now as well.

Take your puff pastry out of the package and roll it out slightly with a rolling pin. Cut the puff pastry into squares about 3.5″ on both sides. Cut out about 16 pieces of puff pastry.

To make the bundles, place slice of prosciutto on top of the square.  I folded the prosciutto in half so that it fit nicely on the square.  Follow with 2-3 stalks of asparagus (depending on size) and 1-2 tablespoons of cheese.

Lift two opposite corners of the puff pastry squares and wrap them around the asparagus and press to seal. Brush puff pastry with egg wash. Sprinkle with more salt and pepper if desired.

Bake until puff pastry is golden and puffed, about 12-15 minutes. Serve immediately.

Notes + Tips for Prosciutto Asparagus Puff Pastry Bundles

  • Any kind of cheese works for these puff pastry bundles, I used Gruyere cheese, which is a type of Swiss cheese. Other awesome cheeses you could use: mozzarella, Swiss, provolone, gouda or even cheddar.
  • You may definitely make puff pastry from scratch for these Prosciutto Asparagus Puff Pastry Bundles, but I just bough pre-made frozen puff pastry for connivence.
  • Switch out prosciutto for ham! You can use sliced deli meat like ham, or even omit the meat and make these appetizers vegetarian.
