How To Make Spicy Jalapeño Margarita

In a glass add the 1/2-3/4 of the jalapeño (in slices) and the agave. Use a muddler to crush the jalapeño and agave together until it has formed a paste and the juices from the jalapeño have been released.

With another glass, spread a lime wedge over the rim of the glass, exposing the juices over the rim. Dip the rim of the glass into a shallow plate of Tajin or sea salt.

Add ice to the Tajin rimmed glass, then add the jalapeño mixture, followed by tequila, cointreau and fresh lime juice to reach the top of the glass. Stir the drink and try it to see if it needs anything extra to your desire.

Garnish the Spicy Jalapeño Margarita with extra lime and jalapeño slices, enjoy & drink responsibly! 🙂

Notes + Tips for Spicy Jalapeño Margarita

  • Cointreau or triple sec work well for this margarita. I used Cointreau but feel free to use any lemon/lime liqueur that you enjoy.
  • Make a frozen version of this margarita. Add all of the ingredients to a blender and add 1 cup or more of ice and blend. The margarita will turn out like a slushy like consistency.
  • Try your jalapeño before making this drink. Jalapeños can either be spicy or sweet so I recommend trying a small bite of the the jalapeño to see how you like it and adjust how much jalapeño you will add to your drink.
